STAFF BIOS
Emily Frank-Rohe is a therapist and community activist living in Madison, WI. She believes that art can tell truths nothing else can, and is honored to be part of Blanket Gravity.
Su-Mai Lin is a psychotherapist who has worked in private practice, community mental health, and hospital settings. She enjoys incorporating creativity as a vehicle for healing in her work. Su-Mai earned a master's in clinical social work and an undergraduate degree in studio art, specializing in printmaking and painting.
Vanessa Matusin is a stained glass artist and works full time as a mental health advocate, conducting neuropsychological evaluations and working with families as an educational consultant in a clinical psychology practice. With a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, she previously served her community as a school psychologist working with adolescents and teens to support their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Vanessa believes all humans should explore the creativity that we innately posses, as this trait can reveal itself in many ways and will open doors that otherwise remain hidden by societal demands.
Marie Minerva Estela is a writer living with bipolar disorder with psychotic features. She was a regular contributor to the mental health section of The Mighty. Marie earned a master’s degree in clinical social work. She is the founder of Blanket Gravity.
Jasmine Sawers is a Kundiman fellow and Indiana University MFA alum. Their work has appeared in many journals and anthologies and has won prizes from Ploughshares, NANO Fiction, Fractured Lit, and Press 53. Their book, The Anchored World, was a finalist for the 2023 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Short Story Collection. In addition to working with Blanket Gravity, they serve as a senior editor for SmokeLong Quarterly. Originally from Buffalo, Sawers now lives outside St. Louis.
Amanda Walker Amanda's love of reading began in childhood as a way to cope with the feeling of deep loneliness. Reading real and imagined stories has helped her find play, wonder, and connection. Amanda earned a master's degree in social work and has practiced clinical social work in school, hospital, and private settings. She has a special interest in adolescent and emerging adult mental health.
